About the Book

Creating a “fun” history book can be a tall order, but author Bo Grebitus has made a real go of it in his book Touching History, Rediscovering Tahoe City’s Hidden Waterfront.  Lamenting the fact that our schools are teaching less American history, Bo wanted to create a book that would bring real interest back to this subject. He looked at current history books and felt that they did not invite the readers passions and involvement. Hit with an inspiration, Bo went back into his collection of vintage history photographs of the Lake Tahoe regions and determined new way these images could be viewed. Many viewers of these historic photographs were unaware where these images were even taken, let alone understand what the story was behind them. Bo took his vintage photographs, and tracked down exactly where the original photographer stood to take that image. Bo then took the exact same image, giving him a vintage photograph, and a modern photograph. That’s where things got interesting.

Bo would love to hear from readers, historians, and anyone who shares a passion for California’s past.
